From Tokyo Station
Departing from Tokyo Station to Nagano passengers board the Nagano Bullet Train (Asama Shinkansen). Purchase 'Reserve Seat' tickets from the JR counter. You should be issued with 2 tickets per person:
Follow green 'Shinkensen' signs to Platform 21, go through turn style (insert 2 tickets). On platform 21 find section with correct car number, check the train you board is the 'Asama 545' for Nagano. Arrive Nagano and go through turn style, turn right (Zenkojo) exit and the Hotel Metropolitan is on left. The bullet trains run regularly throughout the day - 1.30hrs.
From Nagano Station
Buses from Nagano to Hakuba run every hour, with the last bus departing Hakuba at 8:20pm. (Friday night 9.20pm). Alpico bus cost per person 1400yen one way. Buses depart from the East (Higashi) exit of Nagano Station from bus stop 6.
From Shinjuku Station
Catch the Chuo limited express (Super Azusa) departs from Shinjuku Station and travels directly to Hakuba. Travelling time 3.50hrs.
From Nagoya Station
Catch the Chuo limited express (Shinano) departs from Nagoya Station and travels to Hakuba via Matsumoto. Travelling time 3.30hrs.
From Osaka or Kyoto Station
Departing Osaka or Kyoto catch the Sanyo Shinkansen to Nagoya and transfer to the Chuo limited express (Shinano) departs from Nagoya Station and travels directly to Hakuba. Travelling time 4.30hrs.
From Narita Airport - by Train
Passengers transferring from Narita Airport board the Narita Express to Tokyo or Shinjuku Station. If you are paying cash you can purchase tickets next to the information centre on arrivals level. If you need to pay using credit card you go downstairs and purchase tickets from the JR counter on right as you go through the doors. Purchase 'Reserve Seats'. You should be issued with 2 tickets per person:
- Airport - Tokyo with Car/Seat numbers
- Airport - Tokyo
Insert all tickets into turn style, it will return them as required and follow signs to Tokyo. Ticket will show Narita Express departure time and Car/Seat allocation. Once on platform look for LED signs displaying Narita Express and departure time. Match departure time with departure time displayed on ticket - 1hr.
From Narita Airport - by Bus
Purchase bus tickets at the 'Airport Limousine' counter next to information on arrivals level. Click here for more information on this service. Bus to Tokyo costs approximately 3,000yen pp. - 1hr.
